How We Rate Games

Every game in our daily posts gets a few short labels, so you can tell at a glance whether it is worth your time. Here is exactly what each one means and where the information comes from.

Our take

LabelWhat it means
Grab it90% or more positive Steam reviews (from at least 100 reviews), or 85% or more from 500+ reviews.
Worth a try70% or more positive from 100+ reviews, or 75% or more when a game has fewer reviews.
For ... fansMixed reviews. Worth it if you already like that genre (for example roguelikes or horror). Lists group these under Only for fans.
Not ratedToo few Steam reviews to judge (under 20) and no Metacritic score.

Games that are not on Steam or have no reviews there are rated by their Metacritic score when one exists (85+ is Grab it, 72+ is Worth a try).

Other labels

  • Steam Deck: Verified / Playable / Unsupported - Valve's own test of the Steam version. A copy from another store usually runs the same way through a launcher, but Valve has not tested it.
  • Runs on older PCs - the game's minimum requirements ask for 4 GB of RAM or less.
  • Lowest Steam price ever / in a year - today's Steam price compared with Steam's own price history (data from IsThereAnyDeal). We only compare Steam with Steam, never with key shops.
  • What players say - a short summary of the most helpful Steam reviews from the last 12 months. We never quote them word for word.

How the posts are made

Every day we check the Epic Games Store, Steam and public giveaway trackers. Prices, dates, reviews and requirements come straight from the stores. The short descriptions are written with the help of AI and checked automatically against that store data before anything is published. If you spot a mistake, please tell us on the Contact page and we will fix it.

Prices are in US dollars and times in US Eastern Time. Deals come from the Epic Games Store, Steam, GamerPower and CheapShark; price history from IsThereAnyDeal; prices, availability and end times can change and may differ by region, so check the store page before claiming or buying.
