Assassin's Creed 2

Grab itSteam Deck: PlayableLowest Steam price everRuns on older PCs
Steam: $4.99 (75% off) · regular price $19.99 · 86% positive Steam reviews (18,644) · ends Nov 10, 1:00 PM ET
What it is: An open-world stealth action game set in 15th-century Italy, where you play Ezio Auditore, a young noble who becomes an assassin after his family is betrayed. You scale rooftops in Florence, slip through the waterways of Venice, take on powerful families, and count Leonardo da Vinci among your friends.
What players say: Reviewers love exploring Florence and Venice and watching Ezio grow from a cocky brawler into a seasoned mentor. The big sore spot is the Ubisoft launcher, which several people say locked them out or flagged their account.
Good to know: You need a Ubisoft account, which can be linked to your Steam account, to play.
Worth buying? Anyone who missed the early games or wants to revisit Ezio's best-loved adventure should jump in, since it remains a high point for fans of the series.
Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood

Grab itSteam Deck: PlayableLowest Steam price everRuns on older PCs
Steam: $4.99 (75% off) · regular price $19.99 · 86% positive Steam reviews (9,351) · ends Nov 10, 1:00 PM ET
What it is: The direct follow-up to Assassin's Creed 2 takes Ezio to Rome to strike at the Templar Order where it is strongest. Along with free-running and stealth kills, you recruit and train your own assassins to call in during fights, and spend your earnings bringing the run-down city back to life. There is also a competitive online mode where you pick from a roster of characters with their own weapons.
What players say: Fans enjoy how it carries Ezio's story forward and say the movement and fighting feel great once you get the hang of them. The most common gripe is the Ubisoft launcher repeatedly asking for passwords or claiming accounts are suspended.
Good to know: It requires a Uplay (Ubisoft) account, which you can link to Steam.
Worth buying? A natural next stop after AC2, especially for anyone who wants more of Ezio and likes the idea of running a guild of assassins.
Whispers of a Machine

Grab itSteam Deck: UnsupportedLowest Steam price ever
Steam: $2.99 (80% off) · regular price $14.99 · 93% positive Steam reviews (1,420) · ends Nov 14, 1:00 PM ET
What it is: A sci-fi noir point-and-click detective game where you play Vera, an agent with cybernetic upgrades looking into a series of killings in a world that outlawed advanced AI. Her augmentations shape how you question people and crack puzzles, and leaning empathetic, analytical or assertive changes which solutions open up on the way to one of several endings.
What players say: The moody setting, the augmentation-based investigating and the fairly approachable puzzles get plenty of praise. Common complaints are that it feels short, that choices change less than expected, and that the story and ending lose steam.
Worth buying? Point-and-click fans who want a moody sci-fi mystery that doesn't drag on will be happy here, especially if they enjoy detective work shaped by a character's special abilities.
SteamWorld Heist II

Grab itSteam Deck: VerifiedLowest Steam price ever
Steam: $5.99 (80% off) · regular price $29.99 · 92% positive Steam reviews (1,377) · ends Nov 15, 1:00 PM ET
What it is: A turn-based tactics RPG starring Captain Leeway and a crew of steambots trying to find out why the ocean's water has turned corrosive to metal. During battles you aim each shot yourself and bounce bullets off walls to hit enemies, while between missions you pilot a submarine through real-time naval clashes. You also equip your robots with new weapons, jobs and abilities as the crew grows.
What players say: The hands-on aiming, steady progression and charming robot crew win people over. Some find later missions tedious, pointing to endless enemy waves, forced gear and class juggling, and submarine fights they could do without.
Worth buying? If you like tactics games where your own aim decides each shot, this is a strong pick; just know later missions can feel grindy.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Grab itSteam Deck: Playable
Steam: $11.99 (80% off) · regular price $59.99 · 89% positive Steam reviews (60,504) · It was $8.99 on Steam within the past year · ends Nov 10, 1:00 PM ET
What it is: An open-world action RPG set in Ancient Greece, where you play a Spartan warrior caught up in the war between Sparta and Athens. You sail your own ship, charge into massive front-line battles, fight mythical beasts, and make choices that change how characters' stories turn out.
What players say: The huge, beautiful version of Greece is what keeps people playing, from sunset beaches to stormy seas. Many feel the map is too big for its fairly shallow loop of quests and fights.
Good to know: It uses Denuvo anti-tamper DRM with a limit of five machine activations per day.
Worth buying? Explorers who want an enormous world to get lost in will get their fill, but anyone unwilling to log into Ubisoft Connect should pass. It has sold for less within the past year, so waiting for a deeper sale is a sensible option.
Owlboy

Grab itSteam Deck: VerifiedLowest Steam price everRuns on older PCs
Steam: $1.99 (90% off) · regular price $19.99 · 85% positive Steam reviews (2,406) · ends Nov 15, 1:00 PM ET
What it is: A pixel-art platform adventure about Otus, a mute owl who can fly, swept into trouble when sky pirates threaten his floating world. You grab friends and carry them through the air as gunners, each with their own ability, while exploring ruins, solving puzzles and battling large bosses.
What players say: The pixel art, the music and the warm atmosphere are praised again and again. Boss fights and sudden difficulty spikes are the main frustration, and a few people ran into bugs.
Worth buying? Pixel-art lovers who enjoy a story-driven platformer will find a lot to like; if punishing boss battles wear you out, think twice.
Alba: A Wildlife Adventure

Grab itSteam Deck: VerifiedRuns on older PCs
Steam: $3.39 (80% off) · regular price $16.99 · 97% positive Steam reviews (3,276) · It was $2.54 on Steam within the past year · ends Nov 8, 1:00 PM ET
What it is: A cozy 3D exploration game set on a Mediterranean island, where young Alba spends the summer with her grandparents and decides to protect the local wildlife. You photograph and identify animals, clean up litter, and help townspeople so they'll join your small conservation club.
What players say: Players love photographing birds and other animals, tidying up the island and the easygoing, no-pressure pace that makes it ideal for unwinding.
Worth buying? With 97% positive reviews, it's about as safe as relaxing games get, ideal for a calm afternoon or for playing with a younger gamer. It went a little lower within the past year, so anyone in no hurry can hold out for a better sale.
Assassin's Creed Origins

Worth a trySteam Deck: Playable
Steam: $8.99 (85% off) · regular price $59.99 · 84% positive Steam reviews (37,289) · It was $5.99 on Steam within the past year · ends Nov 10, 1:00 PM ET
What it is: This open-world action RPG travels to Ancient Egypt to tell how the Assassins' order began. You roam from desert dunes to Nile oases and the tombs of Giza, loot weapons of different rarities, build up your skills, and take on tough bosses with a blend of stealth and combat.
What players say: Egypt's sprawling, gorgeous world and Bayek as a lead character draw the most love, along with the combat and story. Complaints center on Ubisoft Connect, which some say needs a connection and sometimes just won't work.
Good to know: The game includes in-app purchases.
Worth buying? A solid pick for open-world fans who like stealth mixed with RPG loot and a lead character worth following, though anyone fed up with launcher outages may want to pass. If you can wait, a deeper sale has come along before.
Bionic Bay

Worth a trySteam Deck: Verified
Steam: $6.24 (75% off) · regular price $24.99 · 84% positive Steam reviews (792) · It was $4.99 on Steam within the past year · ends Nov 14, 1:00 PM ET
What it is: A sci-fi puzzle-platformer about a scientist trying to flee an ancient biomechanical world packed with traps. The key trick is a teleport tool that swaps your position with objects and enemies, which you combine with realistic physics and gravity shifts to get through each level without being burned, crushed or frozen.
What players say: The physics-driven swap puzzles, the atmosphere and the striking art impress most reviewers. A recurring complaint is that later chapters drag, with lots of deaths and precision-heavy trial and error, and some find the areas start to look alike.
Good to know: An online mode lets you race other players' ghosts for spots on the speedrun leaderboards.
Worth buying? Puzzle-platformer fans who like experimenting with physics should enjoy it, but skip it if long trial-and-error stretches drain your patience. It dipped further within the past year, so holding off for a bigger discount is an option.
Steam Deck results are Valve's own tests of the Steam version. Runs on older PCs means 4 GB of RAM or less.
