Steam: $5.99 (90% off) · regular price $59.99 · 91% positive Steam reviews (144,241) · ended Oct 22, 1:00 PM ET
What it is: An open-world action RPG set at Hogwarts in the 1800s, where you create a student caught up in an ancient secret that endangers the whole wizarding world. You learn and upgrade spells, brew potions, find magical creatures and duel Dark wizards as you roam the castle and its surroundings.
What players say: Exploring the gorgeous castle and grounds, flying around and slinging spells win most people over. The common gripes are a weak main storyline with thin writing and side activities that start to feel repetitive and shallow.
Good to know: It is demanding on hardware and needs at least 16 GB of RAM.
Worth buying? Fans of magic-school fantasy and big worlds to poke around in will get the most out of this adventure, which 91% of reviewers recommend, and its lowest Steam price ever makes this a good moment to jump in.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War

Steam: $4.99 (90% off) · regular price $49.99 · 88% positive Steam reviews (36,976) · ended Oct 22, 1:00 PM ET
What it is: An open-world action RPG from Monolith Productions that sends you behind enemy lines in Mordor to face Sauron and his Ringwraiths. Its Nemesis System gives each enemy and follower a personal story that remembers your encounters, as you sneak, fight and build your own orc army before storming enemy fortresses.
What players say: Nearly everyone singles out the Nemesis System, with rivals and followers that make every encounter feel personal. The recurring complaint is bugs, which can be bad enough to stall a playthrough.
Good to know: It contains a lot of bloody, graphic violence.
Worth buying? If outsmarting orcs who hold grudges sounds like fun, this one earns 88% positive reviews and sits at its lowest Steam price of the past year, so there is little reason to wait; players with no patience for glitches may want to pass.
F.E.A.R.

Steam: $1.99 (80% off) · regular price $9.99 · 93% positive Steam reviews (8,305) · ended Oct 22, 1:00 PM ET
What it is: A first-person horror shooter in which an elite unit is sent into an aerospace complex seized by a mysterious armed force, only to find something supernatural tearing soldiers apart. You slow time to win tense gunfights against squads that flank and flush you out, while ghostly visions and the paranormal threat of Alma keep you on edge between battles.
What players say: Reviewers love the slow-motion shootouts, the clever enemy soldiers and the genuinely creepy atmosphere, and many feel it holds up well. The main complaint is the PC version itself, with crashes and poor frame rates that need community fixes.
Good to know: The package also includes the Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate expansions.
Worth buying? Shooter fans who like a heavy dose of horror get a classic with 93% positive reviews at its all-time Steam low, a good moment to pick it up; be ready to apply community fixes for crashes and frame drops, and if tinkering puts you off, pass.
Mortal Kombat 11

Steam: $4.99 (90% off) · regular price $49.99 · 86% positive Steam reviews (26,021) · ended Oct 22, 1:00 PM ET
What it is: A 2D fighting game from NetherRealm Studios with a cinematic story mode and a roster of new and classic Mortal Kombat warriors. You battle with brutal combos and gory finishing moves, then tweak each fighter's variations and gear, and you can take on a friend in local split-screen versus matches.
What players say: Fans praise the fluid, hard-hitting combat and the huge amount of customization for every fighter. The most common complaint is that solo modes like the Krypt and the towers need an online connection.
Good to know: The game sells optional in-app purchases alongside the base game.
Worth buying? Anyone wanting a brutal fighter with plenty of solo content and couch versus play should take a look, as 86% of reviewers back it and this is its best Steam price in a year; skip it if you often play offline, since the Krypt and towers need a connection.
Scribblenauts Unlimited

Grab itSteam Deck: PlayableLowest Steam price everRuns on older PCs
Steam: $1.99 (90% off) · regular price $19.99 · 93% positive Steam reviews (5,372) · ended Oct 22, 1:00 PM ET
What it is: A 2D puzzle sandbox where you play Maxwell, a boy whose magical notepad lets him summon objects out of thin air. You roam open levels solving people's problems by conjuring whatever you can think of, and you can design your own objects with custom properties.
What players say: Many players grew up with it and say the creative puzzle-solving still holds up for adults, and the freedom to summon absurd objects is a frequent source of laughs. A few say the puzzles feel more like odd requests than real brain teasers, and tabbing out can freeze the game.
Good to know: Player-made objects can be shared and downloaded through Steam Workshop.
Worth buying? Families and anyone who enjoys silly, creative problem-solving will have a great time with this 93%-rated sandbox, and it has never been cheaper on Steam.
LEGO Batman: The Videogame

Steam: $2.99 (85% off) · regular price $19.99 · 89% positive Steam reviews (6,639) · ended Oct 22, 1:00 PM ET
What it is: A LEGO action-adventure in which Batman and Robin chase the villains who broke out of Arkham Asylum, including the Joker, Penguin and Scarecrow. You build with bricks, swap special suits to solve puzzles, drive vehicles and brawl through Gotham, then play a second campaign as the villains themselves.
What players say: Nostalgia runs strong, and players still enjoy the lighthearted brick-smashing action. The big shared complaint is bugs: crashes, softlocks and a remote-control car glitch on the very first level.
Good to know: Two players can team up on one screen in local split-screen co-op.
Worth buying? Kids and anyone revisiting a childhood favorite will enjoy it, and 89% of reviewers recommend it at its lowest Steam price yet; if technical trouble would spoil the fun, skip it.
Injustice 2

Grab itSteam Deck: VerifiedLowest Steam price everRuns on older PCs
Steam: $4.99 (90% off) · regular price $49.99 · 85% positive Steam reviews (6,937) · ended Oct 22, 1:00 PM ET
What it is: A DC Comics fighting game from NetherRealm Studios whose story picks up as Batman resists Superman's iron-fisted regime while a new threat targets Earth. Matches earn gear that changes your heroes' looks and stats, and you can fight friends in local versus or work through solo challenges.
What players say: Players enjoy the surprisingly engaging story, the smooth combat and the gear system that keeps them coming back. The biggest complaint is local multiplayer, where the second player can't use their own leveled gear, so couch matches end up lopsided.
Good to know: It uses Denuvo anti-tamper DRM.
Worth buying? DC fans who mostly play solo get a polished fighter that 85% of players back, and it has never sold for less on Steam; if you mainly play side by side with a friend, the uneven gear will frustrate you.

Good to know: The city spans more than 20 districts to explore.

Good to know: It includes a level editor, and custom levels can be shared on Steam Workshop.
Worth buying? Brain-teaser fans will find thoughtful puzzles behind the cute look, backed by 87% positive reviews; it went a bit lower within the past year, so patient buyers can wait for a deeper sale.
