Steam: $8.99 (70% off) · regular price $29.99 · 97% positive Steam reviews (171,505) · ended Nov 4, 1:00 PM ET
What it is: Deep Rock Galactic sends a crew of up to four dwarven miners into caves on an alien planet to dig out minerals and hold off waves of alien creatures. Each player picks one of four classes, such as the Scout with a grappling hook or the Driller who tunnels through rock, and every cave layout is generated anew and can be carved apart.
What players say: Reviewers keep coming back to the teamwork, and several describe it as a game they share with their kids, friends and family. The mission and cave design also gets credit for keeping runs fresh.
Worth buying? Squads of friends who want a class-based shooter where every role matters should grab this one.

Steam: $19.99 (50% off) · regular price $39.99 · 86% positive Steam reviews (533,915) · ends Nov 9, 1:00 PM ET
What it is: Rust leaves you on a large island where wildlife, the elements and other people all want you dead. You gather wood and stone, craft tools and weapons, and build a base that rival players will try to raid, with vehicles, electrical systems and farming added over years of monthly updates from Facepunch Studios.
What players say: Reviewers describe chaotic run-ins with other players, from spawning on the beach with nothing but a rock to having a base raided, and several admit it swallows huge amounts of time.
Good to know: Players can run private servers of their own and mod them on the server side.
Worth buying? Players who enjoy high-stakes PvP and don't mind losing everything will find endless stories here; skip it if you want to play alone, since it is multiplayer only.

What it is: The Forest starts with a passenger jet crash, leaving you stranded in thick woods home to a clan of cannibalistic mutants. You chop trees for a camp, scavenge food and craft weapons by day, then defend your shelter by night, and a network of caves and underground lakes waits below.
What players say: Playing with friends is the highlight for many, turning base-building blunders and frantic escapes into shared laughs. Reviewers also say the horror lands, with creatures and nights that genuinely unsettle.
Worth buying? A great fit for anyone who wants a survival game with real horror bite, especially if you have friends to scream alongside.

What players say: The parkour is the star for most reviewers, who love racing across rooftops and the tense chases after dark that the day and night cycle creates. Co-op sessions with other players also earn plenty of praise.
Good to know: Combat is very gory.
Worth buying? If you like fast rooftop movement and heavy melee fights against the undead, this is an easy pick.
Payday 2

Grab itSteam Deck: VerifiedRuns on older PCs
Steam: $4.99 (50% off) · regular price $9.99 · 87% positive Steam reviews (175,625) · It was $0.99 on Steam within the past year · ended Oct 27, 1:00 PM ET
What it is: Payday 2 is a four-player co-op heist shooter where your masked crew picks jobs from a criminal contract board, from corner store holdups to emptying bank vaults. You can try to slip in quietly with stealth or shoot your way through, then spend your earnings on customizing your guns and gear.
What players say: Many still rank it among the best shooters they have played, with lots of weapons and ways to approach a job. The recurring complaints target the newer subscription and DLC pricing, plus bugs and crashes.
Good to know: Extra content is sold through in-app purchases.
Worth buying? Crews who like planning a job and watching it fall apart will have fun, but bargain hunters can hold off, since it has sold for less within the past year.

What players say: Many call it a step up from the first game, praising the base building and the fights against cannibals and monsters.
Worth buying? Anyone who loved the original and wants more freedom to build, roam and survive the seasons with friends will feel at home, though it can struggle on lower-end PCs.
Tomb Raider Game of the Year

You scavenge resources to upgrade her weapons and tools, battle the island's hostile inhabitants in third-person combat, and hunt down optional tombs with environmental puzzles.
What players say: Reviewers are impressed by how well the visuals hold up for a 2013 release, and they enjoy both the combat and the story.
Good to know: Besides the campaign, it has online multiplayer modes.
Worth buying? Those after a story-driven action adventure with puzzle tombs on the side should start with this reboot.
Don't Starve Together

Grab itSteam Deck: VerifiedRuns on older PCs
Steam: $5.09 (66% off) · regular price $14.99 · 95% positive Steam reviews (82,408) · It was $1.49 on Steam within the past year · ended Nov 5, 1:00 PM ET

You gather resources to craft items, farm and build structures with friends, all while trying not to starve in a harsh environment.
What players say: Long-time fans love the co-op, the huge range of servers and mods, and how much depth there is to discover. Many also warn that it is punishing and expects you to learn its systems from wikis and guides.
Good to know: Besides co-op, it supports PvP, and you can also play alone.
Worth buying? With a friend to learn alongside, survival players will find a deep co-op game here, though patient shoppers may want to wait because it has gone lower within the past year.

You hack through enemies with a big pool of weapons and skills, die, and restart, keeping unlocked paths, mutations and gear for future runs.
What players say: The smooth, responsive combat, the wide variety of weapons and builds, and the soundtrack get the most praise. The usual complaint is steep difficulty spikes in later areas.
Worth buying? Learning from each death is the appeal here, and players who enjoy that loop will feel right at home; anyone in no hurry may find a deeper sale pays off.

What it is: Ancient Evil is a top-down tactical RPG from PhoenixFire Games that mixes fights with puzzles, shown in hand-drawn 2D art with a dark fantasy and demon theme. You push through three regions of old lands, clearing dungeons, gathering gear and potions, and taking on powerful guardians. Worth grabbing? Fans of dungeon puzzles mixed with real-time tactics will get the most out of it, and it costs nothing to see if it clicks.
